Let Them Leave, Continue to Shine

I had to sit back and wonder why, after I’ve been loyal, why after I have been the friend, the brother, the confidant, the shoulder to cry on, the person there through thick and thin, and I had to realize that sometimes it’s not that people are leaving you or forsaking you, it’s that being connected to you forces them to face parts of themselves they’ve been avoiding. Your light reveals who they are not. Your light exposes the person they’ve been running from. Your very presence calls for growth, and your standard shines a mirror on where they’ve been settling.

For some, stepping up is too heavy a lift, so walking away feels like the easier option. And that’s okay. Let them walk. They were never meant to walk with you forever; they were only assigned to a season, not a lifetime. This truth applies even to family.

You were not designed to carry everyone on the ride of your journey. Some can’t handle the climb, and many can’t handle your elevation. So, If they leave, let them. If they turn their backs, so be it. Do not shrink. Continue to be you. Continue to shine. Continue to live as your authentic self unapologetically and boldly. For the right people, your light will not push them away; it will inspire them to rise. Esyntrek
